15 Months

Our little "baby" boy turned 15 months old this month and had his big check-up on Friday. It turned out to be slightly more traumatic for him (and Mom) than expected but overall was good. First off, he is a whopping 21lbs, 4oz which I think puts him at about the 25th percentile for weight. He is still on the small side for height and head circumference but he's growing normally so she said that is the most important part. She thinks he may "catch up" at some point but he might just be a petite person for his whole life. Unfortunately he still has the ear infection that we went to the walk-in clinic almost 2 weeks ago so he’s back on antibiotics again! We were not thrilled about this, but at least the new stuff is only ONCE a day for 10 days as opposed to THREE times a day for 10 days with the first round. Try getting a toddler to take 3 doses of anything a day for 10 days and see how that goes for you. 'Nuff said.

Then of course we had to do more shots, 3 this time. I'm pretty sure that with the list of immunizations they have going these days he might get done with his shots when he's 18!! Then unfortunately he had to go to the lab and have his finger pricked for blood, Dr. wanted to check his iron levels and something else. (Is that standard at that age? I forgot to ask...drat) He didn't like that much at all and of course getting a band-aid on that tiny little finger was no easy task so Cameron and I both ended up with blood stains on our clothes but it wasn't too serious. Then I got to chase him around the Pharmacy waiting room for 10 minutes while they filled his prescription! The days of him sitting in my lap and watching people are coming to an end...he wants to GO, GO, GO these days! Thank goodness they filled his Rx fast though!

So the verdict is he's a healthy little guy for the most part, we just have to get his ears cleared up! He's "talking" all the time now, just not in a language that anybody else can understand very much at this point. He says Dada with meaning or sometimes Da-dee, and he’s said nana towards Banana’s before, plus we've both heard something resembling the word "Kitty" when one of the cats is around but it’s kind of hard to catch. It sounds kind of like Ditty but with very little “t” sound. I have on rare occasions heard "Mama" but it's usually during times of great unhappiness where there is some wailing like Wahahahahahahahahahahamama as he's looking towards me to come pick him up or bring him something. So that's something I guess, we'll work on it! And of course you know he's walking...starting to RUN on occasion! The problem with the running is he gets his momentum up so fast and his legs can't keep up with his body at some point and he just falls flat on his face. This usually doesn't upset him though and he just keeps giggling! He's tough, he's all boy!

Well there's your update for a while! I would write more but I’ve been working on this post for the entire weekend. I tried to post it twice yesterday but Mr. Cameron decided I wasn’t paying enough attention to him and came over and turned the computer off. Little stinker. He does this quite frequently now since it’s on the floor and the on/off button has a light by it and he just LOVES to push buttons and see what happens! So between that and digging out of the more than a foot of snow that piled on us this weekend I didn’t get around to it! That’s why I have to come to work on Mondays, for a break! ;) I’ll try to post some pictures later from home, stay tuned!

Holy Crap it's Cold Outside!

Current Temp here in Southeast WI is -4 degrees. Current Temp in Guatemala City is 73 degrees. It's a wonder Cameron isn't packing a bag and trying to move back! Poor kid.

Don't worry honey, tomorrow's high is supposed to be 10 degrees! It's a heat wave, woo-hoo!
